Kuncoro will be able to see their idols acting in the movie title BROWNIES. The film is produced by SinemArt, which also produced “Mengejar Matahari”.

Mel (Marcella Zalianty), a copywriter in an advertising agency, has a life that’s focused on her job. Although Mel is engaged to Joe (Phillips Yusuf), Didi (Renia) - her close friend - questions if Joe is really Mel’s kind of guy.
Later in the story, Mel finds out that Joe has been going out with another girl all this time. Then Mel meets Are (Bucek Depp), a young artist who writes, owns a bookstore, and makes brownies! Are even has a small brownies shop that Mel loves to visit. Are’s artistic attitude and Joe’s betrayal have clearly affected Mel’s life.

Gufy Media: Explanation Text - Evidence for Molecules

Evidence for Molecules

When a lump of sugar dissolves in water, it disappears and all you can see is a clear liquid. It seems as if the sugar has disappeared. Yet, if you drink the liquid, you can taste the sugar. Therefore the sugar is in the liquid somewhere. Why can’t you see it?
The question is easily answered. Think of sugar as being made of millions of molecules all packed closely together. Water is also made up of millions of molecules but they are not packed so closely together. They move around quite freely.
When sugar dissolves in water, the sugar molecules move into the spaces between the water molecules. Remember that the water molecules are not packed closely together. The sugar and water molecules mix together and make a solution.

Gufy Media: Discussion Text - Tourism: Alternative industry

Tourism: Alternative industry

We all know that we cannot rely too much on oil supporting our economic life nowadays. Many countries produce some oil every year, so the price of oil sometimes gets lower and lower. Besides, the oil deposits which lie deep beneath the surface of the earth won’t last forever. After a certain period of time, which may be not much longer, we will run out of oil. So, our government thought of other possible alternatives, and decided that tourism would be a good one.
Indonesia has good potential for tourism. It has many beautiful places, many different customs, languages, dances, traditional dresses, and songs. We even have one of the seven wonders of the world, Borobudur. To attract people, we have to make our country look nice and clean. We need to build more hotels, more public transportation, more restaurants, more entertainment buildings, etc. especially at tourism destinations. Then the world of business and technology will grow and later it will alter the whole country.
But we must bear in mind that there are some bad aspects of tourism. The way of life of people will change. Many bad influences from outside will come and ruin the people mentally, especially youngsters. This is the most dangerous and serious matter. The beautiful places in Indonesia could be ruined as well because of the careless tourists and businessmen who only want to get money without considering the environment.
So, what should we do? I think here the government has a solution. They must give their people enough information about tourism and become guards to lead and protect their people and we, as good citizens, must obey them. We must remember that we are Indonesians who have our own cultures and principles.

Gufy Media: Narrative Text - Frog Prince

Frog Prince

One fine evening a young princess put on her bonnet and clogs, and went out to take a walk by herself in a wood; and when she came to a cool spring of water with a rose in the middle of it, she sat herself down to rest a while. Now she had a golden ball in her hand, which was her favourite plaything; and she was always tossing it up into the air, and catching it again as it fell.
After a time she threw it up so high that she missed catching it as it fell; and the ball bounded away, and rolled along on the ground, until at last it fell down into the spring. The princess looked into the spring after her ball, but it was very deep, so deep that she could not see the bottom of it. She began to cry, and said, "Alas! If I could only get my ball again, I would give all my fine clothes and jewels, and everything that I have in the world."
Whilst she was speaking, a frog put its head out of the water, and said, "Princess, why do you weep so bitterly?" "Alas!" Said she, "What can you do for me, you nasty frog? My golden ball has fallen into the spring." The frog said, "I do not want your pearls, and jewels, and fine clothes; but if you will love me, and let me live with you and eat off your golden plate, and sleep on your bed, I will bring you your ball again."

Gufy Media: Review Text - The Notebook

THE NOTEBOOK
Nicholas Sparks
Warner Books
Romance
ISBN: 0446605239

When author Nicholas Sparks sat down to write The Notebook, a tender love story inspired by the enduring relationship of his wife Cathy's grandparents, he wanted his readers to walk away with a renewed spirit of hope.

"I'll never forget watching those two people flirt," he recalls. "I mean, you don't see that very often. They’d been married 67 years, and yet they still loved each other. I wanted to write a book about that kind of love. I wanted people to know that unconditional love does exist."

So Sparks created The Notebook, the simple story of Noah Calhoun, a soft spoken North Carolina outdoorsman who carried his love for the willowy Allie Nelson with him long after their youthful romance had ended. He paralleled Noah's silent passions with Allie's haunting thoughts—feelings she could not escape even after she became engaged to another man. He asked his readers to consider what it might mean if these relatively happy, middle-aged people found their destinies once again overlapped.

He presented a question all but universal in appeal: What would happen if two people were given a second chance at the love of a lifetime?

Sparks deftly answers that question. But it's the inspiration drawn from his real life grandparents that makes The Notebook more than just a novel of flames reignited. The novel opens and closes with an elderly Noah Calhoun reading aloud from his personal journals and "notebooks." And as he shares the delicate details, the good with the bad, it's clear he is as enchanted with Allie in old age as he was on the day they met.

"And that’s the legacy of The Notebook," according to Nicholas Sparks. "When love is real, it doesn't matter what turns the road takes. When love is real, the joys and possibilities are endless."

Gufy Media: Review Text - Future World: The Latest Movie

Future World: The Latest Movie

‘Future World’, the latest movie by Global Studios, stars Rick Wycket and Amelia Lightheart. This high-budget, futuristic fantasy broke box office records in its first week. The story is based on the idea of the world being plunged into an ice age by a nuclear war. The few remaining humans face life in a harsh environment without technology.
The producers obviously spent much of their budget on stunning visual effects. The techno-wizards used the latest digital techniques to create an impressive setting that is completely believable.
Less believable is the wicked performance of Wycket, who was reputedly paid (or over-paid) three million for his role. For a fantasy, his acting is not fantastic, in contrast to Lightheart, a fresh talent who will undoubtedly became a star.
The screenwriters fail to provide a credible story-line. The plot has more holes than a Swiss cheese and leaves too many questions unanswered. This is the real downfall of this expensive project.
Overall, this is a very average movie. The only benefit of seeing it on the big screen is the visual effects. Save your money and see it at home for half the price when it reaches the small screen.

Gufy Media: Review Text - Spidernan 2

Spiderman 2 – The Review

I just watched Spiderman 2. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It is better than the original. The story has more depth. Lots of funny moments too. Expect high powered action with excellent special effects. Frankly speaking, when I walked into the cinema, I thought we were going to watch Finding Nemo 2. The cinema was filled with kids. Not surprising though since the original Spiderman movie was a huge hit with the kids.
The story starts with Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire), having a tough time with his dual life. Two jobs by day, with high expectation in school to boot. Crime fighter by night. No time for his personal life or to follow his dreams. Always exhausted. Always late. He reminds me of Born Loser.
Peter faces problems which many of us do. Problems on the job. No money for the rent. The woman he loves Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) is with someone else. Basically, anything that goes wrong, does. Even as Spiderman, things go wrong as his power vanish.
The villain, Doc Ock is a multi-dimensional person, somewhat like Norman Osborne in the original Spiderman movie. In that he is torn between good and evil, originally a good hearted scientist, the unfortunate accident allowed the artificial intelligence in his tentacles to take over and turn him to a formidable villain. Alfred Molina is excellent as Doc Ock. Both as the good scientist, and as the villain whose mind was ruled by the tentacles.
As the story progresses, Peter finds himself that he has to be his own. With this self confidence, he has to hurry with the time to save Mary Jane because Doc Ock kidnapped the girl.
Unrequited love. The longing glances exchanged. Some of these could have become uncomfortably mushy, but with Tobey’s understated performance and the powerful on screen chemistry between him and Kirsten, these scenes turned out very well.
Tobey Maguire, with his talent in drama, brings out this aspect of the movie beautifully. The process Peter has to go through as he struggles with what he really wants to do with his life. This reminds me somewhat of the TV series Smallville, where young Clark Kent (Superman) struggles with his secret powers.
Rosemary Harris (as Peter’s Aunt May) touches our hearts. She still misses Uncle Ben terribly. A brave old lady who faces life alone, with not enough money to pay the bills. Even then, she spunky enough to whack Doc Ock. Incidentally, in the comic books, Aunt May almost married Doc Ock.
Spiderman, with his mask on looks emotionless. In a number of key moments of the movie, you see Spidey without mask. The comic book Spidey would never take off his mask voluntarily, but in the movie, seeing the maskless Spidey’s expressions has a greater impact. You’ll see the actor’s full performance when you see his facial expressions.
Overall, Spiderman 2 is an excellent movie. The plot is excellent. The characters are well developed. The humor is there. Lots of inside jokes. It loads of actions too. Overall, it is fun for the entire family. Unlike other special effects intensive movie, I intend to see this movie again.

Gufy Media: Explanation Text - Tsunami

Tsunami

Tsunami is a Japanese word, meaning “harbour wave” and is used as the scientific term for a seismic sea wave generated by an undersea earthquake or possibly an undersea landslide or volcanic eruption. When the ocean floor is tilted or offset during an earthquake, a set of waves is created similar to the concentric waves generated by an object dropped into the water. Most tsunamis originate along the Ring of fire, a zone of volcanoes and seismic activity, 32,500 km (24,000 mi) long, that encircles the Pacific Ocean. Since 1819, about 40 tsunamis have struck the Hawaiian Islands.
A tsunami can have wave-lengths or widths of 100 to 200 km (60 to 120 mi), and may travel hundreds of kilometres across the deep ocean, reaching speeds of about 725 to 800 km/h (about 450 to 500 mph). Upon entering shallow coastal waters, the wave, which may have been only about half a meter (a foot or two) high out at sea, suddenly grows rapidly. When the wave reaches the shore, it may be 15 m (50 ft) high or more. Tsunamis have tremendous energy because of the great volume of water affected. They are capable of obliterating coastal settlements.
Tsunamis should not be confused with storm surges, which are domes of water that rise underneath hurricanes or cyclones and cause extensive coastal flooding when the storms reach land. Storm surges are particularly devastating if they occur at high tide. A cyclone and accompanying storm surge killed an estimated 500,000 people in Bangladesh in 1970.

Gufy Media: Explanation Text - Population Problems

Population Problems

A high birth rate and a low death rate will result in a rapid population growth or population explosion. Experts fear that the population will outstrip the available food supply in the world. It means that the population increases faster than the food supply.
The question is: “How long will the world be able to continue to provide enough food for its expanding population?”. The present food supply can be increased and can be further expanded through the use of fertilizers and the practice of improved farming methods. However, if the population is not slowed, the food supply will become a very critical problem. Mass starvation will be inescapable.
Even now millions of people in poor countries die each year from malnutrition. Children lack protein which is badly needed for body building and the growth of the brains during the first four years of life. The people are shabbily dressed, illiterate, and they live in very bad houses or slums.
Overcrowded countries create problems not only on food but also on housing, clothing, water, education, health, etc. How can it be? Housing, educational and health facilities fall behind with the expanding population. More people means more water, more garbage and pollution. Many lakes and rivers are already polluted by industries and air pollution is becoming a serious problem. More transportation, such as trucks, buses, cars, motorcycles and planes are needed and consequently more accidents are likely to happen. Crowding also invites the spread of disease and the need for privacy becomes difficult to satisfy.
How can the problems be overcome? All the problems call for immediate birth control and family planning all over the world, for they play an important role in the family limitation and the prosperity of the world population.

Gufy Media: Explanation Text - Petroleum Products

Petroleum Products

Petroleum products, such as gasoline, kerosene, home heating oil, residual fuel oil and lubricating oil come from one source – crude oil found below the earth’s surface, as well as under large bodies of water, from a few hundred feet below the surface to as deep as 25,000 feet into the earth’s interior. Sometimes crude oil is secured by drilling a hole through the earth, but more dry holes are drilled than those producing oil. Pressure at the source or pumping forces crude oil to the surface.
Crude oil wells flow at varying rates, from ten to thousands of barrels per hour. Petroleum products vary greatly in physical appearance: thin, thick, transparent, or opaque. Their chemical composition is made up of only two elements: carbon and hydrogen, which form compounds called hydrocarbons. Other chemical elements found in union with the hydrocarbons are few and are classified as impurities. Trace elements are also found, but these are of such minute quantities that they are disregarded. The combination of carbon and hydrogen forms many thousands of compounds which are possible because of the various positions and varied joining of these two atoms in the hydrocarbon molecule.
The various petroleum products are refined from the crude oil by heating and condensing the vapours. These products are the so-called light oils, such as gasoline, kerosene and distillate oil. The residue remaining after the light oils are distilled is known as heavy or residual fuel oil and is used mostly for burning under boilers. Additional complicated refining processes rearrange the chemical structure of the hydrocarbons to produce other products, some of which are used to upgrade and increase the octane rating of various types of gasoline.

Gufy Media: Explanation Text - Jogging

Jogging

If you get up early in the morning in most large Indonesian cities you will see an unusual sight. In city parks and city streets, lots of boys, girls, men and women are already up and busy. They are not working or going anywhere. They are exercising. Some are playing football or doing other exercises. Many, however, will be jogging. What is jogging?
Jogging is gentle running. Why is jogging so popular today? Why do people jog? People jog to relax themselves, to keep themselves fit, or simply to enjoy themselves. Our world today is a world where life is comfortable and easy for many city people. Fast buses, cars and motorcycles take us to work or to school. Lifts carry us quickly from one floor to another floor in large buildings. So many people get very little exercise.
What do you need to start jogging? You only need a pair of running shoes, an old pair of jeans or shorts, a sweater, and a little courage. Don’t be embarrassed if you meet your neighbour as you return home, hot and tired. When you begin jogging, start by running some of the way and then walking. Don’t jog too far to begin with and jog slowly. If you jog with a friend, you should still be able to talk as you jog. Once you develop a regular jogging programme, you will feel fit and well, and you will be ready to start a busy day feeling fresh and awake.
Next time you are at the swimming pool, look at the people around you especially those who are over thirty. How many of them have a fat stomach? Now you understand why more and more people today go jogging or do some other forms of exercises.

Gufy Media: Discussion Text - The Effects of Television

The Effects of Television

How does television affect our live? It can be very helpful to people who carefully choose the shows that they watch. Television can increase our knowledge of the outside world; there are high quality programs that help us understand many fields of study: science, medicine, the arts, and so on. Moreover, television benefits very old people who cannot often leave the house, as well as patients in hospitals. It also offers non active speakers the advantage of daily informal language practice; they can increase their vocabulary and practice listening.
On the other hand, there are several serious disadvantages to television. Of course, it provides us with a pleasant way to relax and spent our free time. Many children stare at a TV screen for more hours each day than do anything else, including studying and sleeping. It is clear that the tube has a powerful influence on their lives and that its influence is often negative.
Recent studies shows that after only thirty seconds of TV, a person’s brain “relaxes” the same way that it does just before falls asleep. Another effect of television on human brain is that it seems to cause poor concentration. Children who view a lot of TV can often concentrate on a subject for only fifteen to twenty minutes; they can pay attention only for the amount of the time between commercials.
Another disadvantages is that TV often causes people to become dissatisfied with their own lives. Real life does not seem as existing to those people as the lives of actors on the screen. To many people, TV becomes more real than reality, and their own lives seem boring. Also, many people get upset or depressed when they cannot solve problems in a real life as quickly as TV actors seem to. On the screen, actors solve serious problems in a half-hour program or a thirty second commercial.
Before a child is fourteen years old, he or she views eleven thousand murders on the tube. He or she begins to believe that there is nothing strange about fights, killings, and other kinds of violence. Many studies show that people become more violent after certain programs. They may even do the things they saw in a violent show. An example is the effect of the movie The Deer Hunter. After it appeared on TV in the United States, twenty-nine people tried to kill themselves in a way similar to an event in the film.
The most negative effect of the boob tube may be people’s addiction to it. People often feel a strange and powerful need to watch TV even when they don’t enjoy it. Addiction to a TV screen is similar to drug or alcohol addiction: people almost never believe they are addicted.

Gufy Media: Discussion Text - Advantages and Disadvantages of TV

Advantages and Disadvantages of TV

Television is one of the sources of information and entertainments media. Almost everyone nowadays have a television set in his or her home. In many cases, some depend on television very much. Why does this happen? Does this magic box give many advantages? What are the disadvantages? Can it cause a serious problem for the viewers?
It is certainly the easiest media access and it is definitely convenient for those who own it. Once we turn on the set, we can get much information in just seconds. There are several channels and variety of programs to choose from. Sometimes we cannot choose which one we want to watch because they are all interesting. Yet, often too we find almost all the channels are giving uninteresting programs. Entertainment is certainly an important aspect of our lives. Thus, TV is one of the easiest and affordable ways to get entertained. We can watch free live performance without having to be there.
The time we live in has been called the age of information. Everyone is racing to catch up the latest news. For people who are busy all the time, TV before the internet is the most favorable media to choose.
Yet, we have to realize that TV can give us bad effects if we are not selective enough in entertaining ourselves. Many times TV can give evil influence to parts of a society. For example, children are exposed to violence so that in several cases they become violent in the family as well as they are outside their house. In some situations, TV is considered as a time waster. Many people spend so much time on watching TV so that they have no time for anything else. They do not exercise or socialize with other people.

Gufy Media: Discussion Text - Guinea Pigs

Guinea Pigs

Every year about seventeen million animals are used in laboratory experiments. But in many countries today, a difficult question is being asked: Do we have the right to use animals in this way?
The use of animals in medical research has many practical benefits. Animal research has enabled researchers to develop treatments for many diseases, such as heart disease and depression. It would not have been possible to develop vaccines for diseases like smallpox and polio without animal research. Any drug you take today was tried first on animals.
Future medical research is dependent on the use of animals. Which is more important: the life of a rat or that of a three–year–old child?
Medical research is also an excellent way of using unwanted animals. Last year, over twelve million animals had to be killed in animal shelters because nobody wanted them as pets.
The fact that humans benefit cannot be used to justify using animals in research anymore than it can be used to justify experimenting on other humans. Animals suffer a lot during these experiments. They are forced to live in small cages, and they may be unable to move.
Much of the research that is carried out is unnecessary anyway. Animals have the same rights as humans do– to be able to move freely and not to have pain or fear forced upon them. Researchers must find other ways of doing their research, using cell culture and computer modeling. There should be no animals in research laboratories at all.

Gufy Media: Discussion Text - Cloning at Animals

Cloning at Animals: Allowed or Not Allowed?

In this modern era, technology has developed into such a certain degree that scientists are able to create new form of life. One of them is cloning. The debate whether cloning at animals is allowed or not allowed never endless.
Those who agree with the cloning at animals usually argue that the seed produced from them can be used to everlasting rare species. They also add that cloning has a purpose to produce high quality of seeds.
Many species are becoming scare and rare. Scientists are concerned if they don’t do something to save the species, these animals will be extinct and this means a big loss in the animal kingdom. For this reason, researchers improve the cloning technology so that many rare species can be successfully cloned.
Not everyone is excited about cloning at animals, however. Some people feel that it could have a terrible consequence.
For example, if Dinosaurs are cloned, then men will be destroyed. It is clear that the ferocious beasts cannot live together with humans. In history, these creatures lived several thousand years before men appeared. Can you imagine these giant killing creatures live within the same era and the same planet with us?
As a result of this controversy, people still haven’t got the answer yet for cloning at animals. While some members of the scientific community think that the banning of cloning technology will destroy the creativity of science.

Gufy Media: Speech Text - AMAR MA’RUF NAHI MUNGKAR

AMAR MA’RUF NAHI MUNGKAR

Salam
MUQODDIMAH

Praise be to Allah, The Lord of the universe who has given us the blessing, so we can live in this world well.
Peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad that has shown us from the dark way to the right way that is Islam religion.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Honorable juries,
And dear audience.

If we have a look at our society now, our heart will groan in concern. The youth that are hoped to have great responsibility to the future of religion and nation, fall on the wrong way of life. Many of them are trapped in a dark style of life. They don't know the purpose of their life. Life is just for joy; consuming strong drink, morphine, opium, narcotic, koplo pill, sabu-sabu, putauw .... yach .... DRUG ABUSE has stuck in their mind. Even most of them not only consume the drug but also circulate it. MasyaAllah. What can we get from the youth like this? Can we rely our religion and nation on them? The answer is No and Never.

Ladies and Gentlemen, dear bothers and sisters,
Surely, it's hard for us, as youth, to live in this Millenium era. What must we do to face this reality? Of course, besides we have to struggle for our better own life, we also must think and try to overcome the problems in our society. We must hold firmly the slogan AMAR MA'RUF NAHI MUNGKAR. We should be able to be ourselves who are good for our own life and useful for the others. Moreover we must fill up our life with positive deeds and positive thinking.

Ladies and Gentlemen, dear brothers and sisters,
We may proud and smile.... In this Millenium era the activities of Moslem youth are very rapid and speedy. It indicates that the resurgence of Islam that sank some ages ago will appear again, either those who call themselves as the Youth of Mosque, Moslem Organization or the others. Everywhere we always hear the reading of Al-Qur'an verses and Sholawat Nabi. And the people are busy enlivening the great days of Islam with many kinds of activities. All are in the purpose to propagate Islam and all at once to fill and to defend the independence of Indonesia that we love.

Ladies and Gentlemen, dear brothers and sisters,
Finally let's pray together, May we are, as Moslem, given power by Allah to carry out the good deeds and to fight the evils in this world.

That's all what I can deliver, and if there had been mistakes on it, I beg your pardon. And thank you very much for your attention.

Salam
